The Sound

Switchfoot wrote "The Sound (John M. Perkin's Blues)" for the American civil rights leader John M. Perkins and included it in the Hello Hurricane album which was released last year.

Jon Foreman further wrote an article about Dr. Perkins in Huffington Post last month. He talked about how Dr. Perkins chose to break the cycle of hate by responding with love. He revealed that the civil rights leader asked him to write a song. He shared that the song is about the justice of love and the love of justice. A song about how compassion breaks the cycle of violence and creates new life. Love is indeed the final fight.
